Browser games that load offline
Browser games that “offline games” articles recommend and web-app lists feature, retested every month with the network off. In the latest test, on 1 November 2026, 19 of 40 came back after an offline reload. For 4 the page opened but the game did not, and 17 showed a browser error page.
Disclosure: we make MANXLAB, a set of free browser games built to work offline. Our own games are tested the same way, listed separately, and not counted in any figure here.
“Loaded offline” means the game came back to its start screen after a reload with the network off. We do not play the games, so it does not show that a game can be played through offline. To use one on a plane, open it once while you are online, then try it with the network off before you rely on it.
The 19 that loaded offline
Sorted by how many advertising and tracking companies the page contacted while online. “Loaded offline” counts the tests a game has passed since we started.
The 21 that did not
For 4, the site’s own page came back but the game inside it, hosted on another site, did not. The other 17 showed a browser error page. Several of these offer a separate download for offline play; we test only the browser version.

How we test
Once a month each game is opened in a fresh Chrome profile from a US connection and given 20 seconds to set up any offline support. It is reloaded once, the browser’s ordinary cache is cleared, the network is switched off, and it is reloaded again, so a game passes only on what the site deliberately saved for offline use. Nothing is clicked except itch.io’s “Run game” button. Every result that changes from the previous test is checked by eye against its screenshot before this page is updated.
It is a reload test. A game already open in a tab may keep running when the connection drops, which is all some recommending pages promise; we do not test that.
